Spending them on your gran's carving knife or your oupa's old Okapi? That's a paid sharpening (R50–R100).
Knife Sharpening.
Because blunt is boring.
A blunt knife slips, squashes tomatoes and embarrasses you at the braai. Bring it to any BNT branch and we'll put the bite back in the blade. Bought it from us? Your first 3 sharpenings are on the house for a full year.

Questions, sharpened
How much does it cost to sharpen a knife at BNT?
R50 to R100 per knife, depending on the blade's size and steel type. Bought the knife from BNT? Then your first 3 sharpenings within 12 months are free.
Do I get free sharpening if I buy a knife from BNT?
Yes, and it's one of our favourite things to say. Every knife you buy from BNT comes with 3 free sharpenings for that knife, valid for 12 months from the purchase date.
Can I use my free sharpenings on a different knife?
Sorry, no. The 3 free sharpenings belong to the knife you bought and can't be moved to another one. Any other knife is sharpened at the standard R50 to R100.
I bought several knives. Can I bring them in together?
Absolutely. Each knife has its own 3 free sharpenings, so bring the whole set in one go. Each knife gets one sharpening per visit.
When do my free sharpenings expire?
12 months after the day you bought the knife. Unused ones lapse after that, so don't let them gather dust.
Which BNT stores offer knife sharpening?
Most of them. Sharpening needs the right equipment and a trained sharpener on shift, so phone your nearest branch before you come in to check it's available that day.
How long does knife sharpening take?
A pocket knife that needs a normal sharpening is usually done while you wait. Knives that need more work take about 30 to 45 minutes, so have a browse and come back. More than three knives, or a full kitchen set, we book in for collection later that day or the next, and let you know when they're ready.
Buy a knife. Get a year of sharp.
Every knife from BNT comes with 3 free sharpenings. Your tomatoes will thank you.
